Dr. Abebe Fola, Postdoctoral researcher in Carpi Lab, received the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global Health Travel Award to attend the Keystone Symposium, to be held in Ethiopia on October 30 - November 2, 2019. The theme for this year’s Keystone Symposium will be “The Malaria Endgame: Innovation in Therapeutics, Vector Control and Public Health Tools”. Dr. Fola will present his work that aims to understand malaria parasite genomic variation and spatial transmission patterns between different epidemiological zones across Zambia. This research effort, in collaboration with The Zambia National Malaria Elimination Center and MACEPA PATH, will map transmission foci and track the connectivity between parasite populations nationally to ultimately inform and help sustain progress toward malaria control and elimination in Zambia.
